Volta Region will get its fair share of national dev’t – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the Volta Region receives its fair share of national development, addressing longstanding challenges he attributed to years of neglect tied to the region’s political choices.

Speaking in Ho on January 24 during his “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Mahama expressed gratitude for the region’s unwavering support, which played a crucial role in his decisive electoral victory. He pledged to address their concerns and work towards equitable development across the country.

“The Volta Region has always been a beacon of support for the National Democratic Congress, my party, and indeed myself. It has been a stronghold for Ghana’s democratic progress since 1992,” he stated.

Mr. Mahama emphasized the region’s historical contributions to Ghana’s progress, saying, “Your immense contribution to the success of our party and my election as president of the Republic of Ghana is a testament to the strength of the bond that exists between us. We cannot talk about Ghana’s progress without acknowledging the vital role the Volta Region has played in shaping the course of our history.”

Acknowledging the developmental challenges faced by the region, the President assured residents that change is on the horizon.

“We also acknowledge your challenges, years of neglect, and alienation from the development of our country due to your political choices. But I stand here to assure you that this narrative will change. My visit signals my commitment to ensuring that the Volta Region receives its fair share of national development.”

Mr. Mahama’s remarks were met with enthusiasm as residents expressed hope for renewed attention to the region’s needs under his leadership.
